The A1 is the major road heading South from Edinburgh, and is located to the east of the city.  It is also the longest numbered road in the UK at 410 miles (660km).

Crummock were appointed to resurface a section of this very busy and critical connection for commuters, businesses and visitors.  A lot of work was carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic.

Nearly 10,000m2 of road was resurfaced and Crummock also undertook concrete bridge repairs and waterproofing and bridge expansion joints required replacement.

The job went very well and Crummock finished 7 days earlier than planned.

We were delighted to receive positive comments from members of the public.

Here are a few: "Just wanted to say well done and thank you on the A1 Milton/Fort Kinnaird. I was dreading the start of the roadworks but it was surprisingly minimal delays and I appreciate that you made it more complicated for yourselves to do that." - KH, road user

"Thanks. It was less painful than I thought it was going to be so, thank you." - DO, Retail Manager

"I travel the A1 every day to work, and I see the signs saying that the work on the A1 at close to where it meets Milton Road, has been completed 7 days early. You don’t see that sort of thing often! So Just to say congrats, and thanks!" - GA, Chief Executive
