Roslin Glen, Midlothian
Client: Midlothian Council
Duration:

The B7003 between Roslin and Rosewell had been closed for nearly four years by Midlothian Council due to a significant slippage of the hillside rendering the road impassable. Funds were eventually allocated to stabilise and repair the road and Crummock was appointed to undertake the works as Main Contractor.

The core of the project was land stabilisation and reinstatement of the road.  This difficult project was made more complicated because the road runs through Roslin Glen Country Park, an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) being one of the oldest native forests in Scotland.  In addition the world famous Rosslyn Chapel lies less than 1/2 mile to the north of the road.

The project required a contractor with extensive experience in many aspects of civil engineering namely; excavation, drainage, piling, reinforced earth embankments, in-situ reinforced concrete, road surfacing, crash barrier installation and landscaping.
